The three day Water Resource Management Technical Working Group meeting and Water and Sanitation Study circle on Non-Revenue Water and Community Led Total Sanitation meeting was organized by KEWASNET for Nyanza/Western Kenya and North Rift Regions represented by Uasin Gishu, Busia, Homa Bay, Kisumu, Migori, Elgeyo Marakwet, Trans Nzoia and Kakamega Counties. A total 65 participants attended this capacity building sessions with representatives from County and National Governments, Civil Society organizations, Water Companies, WRUAS and Small Scale Service Providers.
The purpose of the workshop was triplicate in nature which included;
a. Increasing knowledge on the Content of WRM Strategy and prioritize action areas with WRMA, County Government and CSOs
b. Increase knowledge on Non-Revenue Water and Plan for effective Management
c. Increase knowledge on Community Led Total Sanitation and identify areas of engagement with implementing partners and County Governments.
The three days’ workshop was facilitated by Dr. Arthur Shikanda- Kisumu County Public Health Officer, Emmanuel Owako- Regional Manager WSUP and WRMA Sub Regional Officers and Abdi Yusuf from UNICEF sharing on collaborative Behaviors (Presentation annexed)
From this combination of TWG and Study Circle priority areas were identified and plans of action developed.
This was also an opportunity to evaluate KEWASNET Governance Programme by Mr. Benjamin Karume- external Evaluator
